self-esteem is an essential feeling. Self-esteem development depends on the environment in which children are nurtured. A school-based cross-sectional study was conducted by Research department at SINA in three understudied slum areas of Karachi, Pakistan. The study found that age, Parent's education, as well as parent's strictness, BMI and academic performance were linked to the level of self-esteem in the target population regardless of their gender. Assessing children's self-esteem can be a valuable way to develop considerate circumstances and is beneficial to treatment for children with psychosomatic complaints
Anxiety levels among school-going adolescents in peri-urban areas of Karachi, Pakistan
Findings
In our collected data, 544 students participated; 313 (57%) were female, and 231(42%) were male. Among them 173(33%) participants showed moderate to severe level of anxiety out of which 140(26%) were female and 33(7%) were male. As per our study, strict Parenting style plays a significant role in developing moderate to severe 108(20%) levels of Anxiety, shown among adolescents in the studied population. In addition to this, those who do not take tuition 115 (21%), do not use transport to school 91(16%), spend significant time in games on mobile and computer 101 (18%), and have no involvement in physical activities 172 (31%) show more moderate to severe level anxiety than others factors.
Self-Esteem level in school-going adolescents across the slums of Karachi, Pakistan. A cross-sectional analysis
Findings
As per the collected data on self-esteem, among 539 school-going adolescents, 232 (43%) were male and 307 (57%) were female. Most students, 324 (60%), were in the 14–16 age range. Parents’ education status and strictness towards their children, academic performance, and adolescent body mass index (BMI) influenced self-esteem levels
